When I was looking for my GGFx3 in London, I found him in the 1851 and couldnt help notice the families either side. Ages later found GGFx2 marriage - name of wife rang a bell - back to the 1851 and they were next door. |

Hubby's rellies behave as if they live in a mini-hamlet........so many intermarriages between two families spanning about 35 - 40 years......widows from one side marrying widowers from the other....unions between their children and between in-laws - it's a minefield....................yet the two families were fairly illiterate and poor and one group lived in Southampton and the other lot in London...........how did they manage it??? It's become a joke now.....every time one loses their partner we get ready for them to go on another 80 mile jaunt to collect a new spouse! Don't even mention them on the census......GGgggrrrrrr! Dea, Nothing would surprise me! Two of my GGrandfathers sisters married two cousin's from the Tidman family in Central London 1871...many years later another one of my family married a Barnes (in 1940/50's) who did his tree and found that one of his ancestors married another of the same Tidman family back in the 1870's The word fate springs to mind........... It's certainly worth digging a bit deeper. Sheila |

I was chasing MY great, great, great grandfather on MY father's side - I got to the name 'Andrew Chapman',and found a death in 1849, so looked for a marriage - Found one to an Alice Bradburn, so looked on 1851 for an Alice Chapman. I found one and put up the 'household' record. It diddn't appear to be the same one as she was not a widdow BUT, in the same 'household' was MY HUSBAND';s great great grandparents !!!! Spookey - BUT I looked on the images and they were not in the same household, although they did live a few streets apart !! Can anyone explain ? Is this an omen to make me think that THIS Alice is connected? Dea x |
