Morning Wilf and Hi, Thanks so much for your time and help Wilf, I'm sure something will crop up eventually. I appreciate the info you have got for me as it helps me understand a little more of the area........I was looking at maps of Hanmer, Flint and Welshampton the other day and thinking to myself how sparse they looked, I recognised some of the hamlets and districts names from past reseach on other rellies. Thanks for the address I will make a note of it and I will put a search out for the gentleman you mentioned. I do appreciate your taking the trouble for me Wilf, thanks once again. Lin

Hi Lin, Apologies for taking so long in getting back to you. Work always seems to get in the way:-) Its not great news though. In 1841 the census for Hanmer comes under Flintshire and so is not covered on my discs. Also after checking out some of the parish records for this area, it is clear that Shropshire Archives does not cover Hanmer which is where I think you will get all your answers. I had a word with a staff member there and apparently Hanmer is right on the Flintshire/Shropshire border hence some amount of confusion. The details for them are Flintshire Records Office The Old Rectory, Hawarden, Flintshire CH5 3NR Tel: 01244 532364 email: [email protected] You could also try posting a request for Flintshire look ups. I know of a lovely gentleman who has helped me out in this area. He used to be a member on here but am not sure if he still is. Mr William R Jones. He helps out on the Flintshire board of Rootschat if you don't get any help here, try on there. Fingers crossed you break the brick wall and if I can help out in any way again, let me know Wilf x

Hi Wilf, I have worked on this all day and have come across a little more info, which I'm hoping will help. Sarah Reeves married William Madeley on 7th October 1847. Ref: 18 103 In Ellesmere, Flintshire. On marriage cert it states William's residence as Hanmer in the county of Flint, and Sarah, as coming from the same place. Williams father was John Madeley Farmer. Sarah's Father Thomas Reeves, Inn keeper & Butcher. I think I may have found Williams death? But this is not confirmed yet. In March qtr 1866 Ellesmere, Flintshire. ref 6a 731. Presently I have Williams family and now need to trace Sarah's family. As I cannot find him in 1851 I think he may have died before that? So do need to try and find him hopefully in 1841 (provided he had not died before then??) I can only guess that he may have been born around 1795 ish! I will continue to search for whatever else there may be to be found of course, but anything you can help with will be a great help to me. Thankyou once again Wilf. Lin

Hi Lin, In which parish did Sarah get married? It may help narrow things down a bit. I have looked through Welshampton and the surrounding villages without any luck. Saying that though Welshampton itself was very feint and illegible in parts. I am hoping to go to the local archives on Thursday so i'll have a look for something there too Wilf x

Hi Wilf, That's so kind of you and very much appreciated. I don't know if this will help Wilf but, I think Thomas Reeves may have died before 1851. His daughter Sarah (my gg grandmother) married in 1847. She would have still been at home in 1841 however. I cannot find Thomas Reeves and family on 1851 at all. Also, one of the witnesses at her wedding was a Jane Reeves, possibly a sister or SIL......maybe even mother?? Lin
