I think it says 'Leut' Wildfire not 'Leut Wildfire' so he is a Leutenant on the Wildfire there are about five listed the same way It may be something to do with them not being onboard.?? It say not on board on the top of page. Pam

hello Georgina, yes that is what seems logical, but whoever filled the form out has made a complete mess of it haven't they! some of the birthplaces are filled out with 'leut xxx' as well! I think this IS my friend's gt grandfather, but its difficult to tell! Thanks!! Maz. XX

Please can someone have a look at this census page from 1891. RG12, piece 667, folio 53, page 3. Near the bottom is a Joseph W Harwood. In the 'condition as to marriage' column he and a lot of others are listed as 'leut wildfire', while others are listed as single. If this is 'our man' then he was to marry just a few months later. Please does anyone know what this phrase means??? Thank you! Maz. XX
