birth cert to get married??

can anyone please tell me if you needed to produce a birth certificate to get married in the 1930's ???? Thank you. Maz. XX

Not sure about a birth certificate but would probably had to have a baptism certificate. I know I had to in the 1980's & I think this practice has only ceased in the last few years. I guess if you didn't have a baptism cert then you may have had to show birth certificate.

Maz I would not of thought so. My Nan married twice and managed to lie about everything so she must not of had to show her birth cert Yvonne

when i first got married in the late sixties i did not have to produce my birth cert.
