Amended Birth in BMD Index.Adoption?

Yeah i wondered that too. With so many adoptions in the family i thought that this could be another one. The couple left for Australia at some point,time unknown and i was hoping to tie it down a little more precisely with a possible birth,the mother would have been in her late thirties by the time of the birth. Checked for another 10 years beyond that and can't find anything for a possible anywhere. None of the names appear on GR so another dead end,detour route being drawn up as we speak. Glen |

I would think it more likely to be an amendment. Adoptions are re-registered on the Adopted Children Register, not the birth register. And the surname would change as well as the christian name. Liz |

I really should know this but, I found a marriage for a rellie,and went looking for children of the marriage,1950 onwards so i have the mothers maiden name too,i have found an entry but it is crossed out and an asterix by it,at the bottom of the page is another entry in the same surname and district/ref but the christian name has been changed and the page number has an additional 'a' next to it. Would this mean an adoption? Glen |
