Hi everyone - Yesterday we had a friend round and as per usual he wants to know about his tree (or hubby told him he does - take your pick!!!). Anyway.......we found friend's g-grandfather with wife and children on the 1891 and 1901 census. G-granddad was born in Ceylon (now Sri-lanka) in about 1864. Friend believes this man's father ran a tea-plantation over there. Anyone ever contacted anywhere regarding family history in Ceylon????? - Merry

LOL Derek!! A Question about Scotlands People too......... Is it easy to use??? Can you search for marriage partner's using two surnames only??(one of which is pretty rare) Merry

Hi Merri, do have a look at Google, just enter GENEALOGY CEYLON and quite a few sites come up, I've no experience of Ceylon, but worth a try, Derek

Derek, I have HATED dessicated coconut since I was four and gran put a spoonful in my mouth which I had to chew until lunchtime when it eventually went down with my mashed potatoes! But I do like my name spelled with a ''i'', so might change that.....Thankyou!! (I have googled to death but wondered if anyone had tried any government department like the British and Orient office). Merri

scotlandspeople have marriages 1855 to 1930, deaths 1855 to 1955, births 1855 to 1905 they also have the cencus 1851 to 1901 and parish records 1553 to 1854 they charge £6 for 30 credits and if marriages, births and deaths are after 1855 you can save certificate to computer / print it of If you put names in if it is a rare name easier to find

Merry Merri, as a side dish(amongst others) for a decent meat curry, dessicated coconut adds to the flavour. I do think a mouthful would not be pleasant, like sawdust. Do you like Bounty bars, Derek
