Hi everyone - Yesterday we had a friend round and as per usual he wants to know about his tree (or hubby told him he does - take your pick!!!). Anyway.......we found friend's g-grandfather with wife and children on the 1891 and 1901 census. G-granddad was born in Ceylon (now Sri-lanka) in about 1864. Friend believes this man's father ran a tea-plantation over there. Anyone ever contacted anywhere regarding family history in Ceylon????? - Merry |

Hi Merri, do have a look at Google, just enter GENEALOGY CEYLON and quite a few sites come up, I've no experience of Ceylon, but worth a try, Derek |

Derek, I have HATED dessicated coconut since I was four and gran put a spoonful in my mouth which I had to chew until lunchtime when it eventually went down with my mashed potatoes! But I do like my name spelled with a ''i'', so might change that.....Thankyou!! (I have googled to death but wondered if anyone had tried any government department like the British and Orient office). Merri |

Merry Merri, as a side dish(amongst others) for a decent meat curry, dessicated coconut adds to the flavour. I do think a mouthful would not be pleasant, like sawdust. Do you like Bounty bars, Derek |
