I have been trying to use the IGI indexs on the family search site, but, i cant seem to get my head around these batch numbers. How can i search for records if i dont know the numbers etc. Any help and advice would be great. Thanks. mark.

if you know where they were born , then go straight to the town or village. 'refine the search' if you need to Give me a clue - who are you looking for? and i'll try and talk you thru

Jess Ok, thanks..... I am looking for the parents of a Henry Short Born c1720 Thakeham sussex. He married a sarah Harris on the 5/5/1740 in thakeham.

Right, have you got the IGI page as far at sussex , listing Thakeham under T?

clicked on YC071211 You have entered Short in the search box ? (and found there are no returns??) click on the one under it C071212- where there are loads of Shorts but not your henry?

Yep....done that....loads of them, some related in an inbred sort of way i bet, but not the one i am looking for.....????

Ok, top right (refine search) will come up with SHORT in the search box, enter HENRY in first name box scroll down and delete the batch number in the box and click search it should find them all - have you loked thru all of them?

Just been through them all.....Found his marriage, but cant find his birth?????
