I know my Great Grandad is buried in St peter's church yard, Blackley Manchester. Who would I contact to find where the grave is? Would it be the church it's self, or the Manchester Cemetary's department. Thanks in advance Sue |

The burial register for the parish churchyard would be in the county records office. They would probably have a plan of the churchyard showing where the grave is too. nell |

I have known these plans to be at a church. We have been able to see a detailed plan of a churchyard, with plots clearly marked and named. Perhaps a call to the vicar would clarify the situation at St Peters. |

An Olde Crone | Report | 31 Mar 2006 21:31 |
Sue Try Manchester Cemeteries Dept - they were fantastic in finding the details of my 2 x GGFs grave. I wanted to know if he had actually been buried there (rather than just appearing as an inscription on the grave, if you see what I mean). They replied very promptly, telling me that he HAD been buried there, and that any other info would be 10 quid - but then gave me the info I wanted anyway! (For nothing). Good luck - I used to play in St Peter's Churchyard as a child (strange child) Olde Crone |
