I have recently written off for baptism and marriage info for the Eyers side of my family. Had info back today and all the dates seem to fit but there is three different spellings of Eyers! Eyres, Eyers and Ayres. How do I know if they have been coppied wrong or if they are different families? Please can someone help? Many thanks, Jackie.

Please could somebody tell me which spelling I should put on my tree? Sould I keep to the first spelling of Eyers or change it so it is the same as on the records? Thankyou, Jackie

People have individual ideas about the best way round this. I am working on one line that has 4 main spellings. On our PC we have them all listed under one surname, the most frequent used, but our paperwork reflects the different spellings. Often we have someone with one spelling having children who use at least 2 of the other ways. Unless you keep to one spelling, you can't always link them on a tree.

Thankyou Gwyneth, I think I will keep to one spelling on the computor too. Many thanks for your advice, Jackie.
