i havent used 1837.on line before, if i use it will it give possibly a fathers name,when one was not down on a sons birth certificate .,thanks lorraine |

1837online has a copy of the GRO index only - not the actual certificates. Therefore, you will not find any further info there if you already have the cert. If the father's name is not shown on the cert, then it wasn't recorded at the time. This is usual where the parents were not married and the father was not present at the registration. Richard |
