Am trying to find out if there is another child in the family we as yet don't know about. Emily Gale birth approx 1888. Born & living in Calstock Cornwall 1891 census living with step grandfather Thomas Sandercock & Rebecca Sandercok along with mother, father & siblings... 1901 census living with parents Elijah & Maria Gale along with brother Shadrack. Can not find any record of her birth, marriage or death. Any tips as to how I may find her gratefully recieved.

When you say you can't find a record of her birth, marriage or death, where have you looked? have you checked the bmd images for a year either side of 1881? Have you gone through every quarter of every year for a marriage after her 14th birthday? If you have, and you haven't found a marriage, have you checked every quarter of every year until at least the 1960s? nell

1891 gives birth year as 1889.

I'm using Ancestry....... I put in Emily Gale I've done searches with & without her birth year I've tried putting in the county & leaving it out

I found her prev on CAlstock online Parish Clerk as having her date of birth as Oct 1888.... I would like to find her so I can order a cert as there is confusion regarding who her parents are...I have 6 children & 1 grandchild for Elijah & Maria, Emily not being 1!of them!

Without looking, Q4 of 1888 births isn't transcribed anywhere yet, so you would need to try Ancestry Beta for that Q. Merry

Hi Clare The only deaths I can find anywhere near the area up to 1920 with the right age are:- Emily Rebecca Gale Oct-Dec 1909 In Calne age 20 and Emily Annie Gale April-June 1901 age unknown in Chippenham 5a 35. I can only find one marriage listed in Cornwall up to 1920 and that is Emily Gale to either Ernest Butson or Edward Charles Varco - Oct-Dec 1906 St Austell Ref 5c 194. Chrissie
