Anne in North London Report 28 Mar 2006 19:05

Hi all, Did anyone else have a relative who served on HMS Vindictive during WW1? My Grandfather Ernest Roden Mason was a Private with the RAF, service number 277284. I have found him on the CWGC site. I also have birth, death and marriage certificates and census details. Does anyone else have any ideas how I can find out anymore information about him? Born 1888 in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, died 1920 aged 32, my father was only 18 months old at the time. Many Thanks Anne in North London.

Hi Anne! I've nudged up a thread about getting hold of RAF Service Records, hope it helps. I've sent off for two lots of Naval Records, so I'm sure there will be somewhere for you to contact direct about RAF. Hope you're all well! Love Mandy :) xx

Many Thanks Mandy my long time friend in Somerset, Your an absolute star!!!!!! Also thanks to Keith, I have googled and looked at many sites, there is a lot of general information out there. My Grandfather died in the UK as a result of TB but was still honoured by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. I still don't know what his role was. Regards Anne (still) in North London :) xx
