Don't give anything that you are unsure of, or they won't issue the cert. if it doesn't match up. It sounds as if you have enough to order.

Hi Thanks for that. I the local office reg number as the birth came up when I searched the north wales site, I have the quarter and the father's name. I also have the mother's name butI'm not certain of it so may not put that. Does that sound like enough to give them? Thanks!

Local offices don't use the listed GRO numbers, when you order certificates. Some will only issue a marriage cert. if you can give the name of the location / church and the correct quarter. I have ordered certs. ( but not from that N.Wales Office )and just given name and quarter for births. It might be a problem if you are talking of some of the more common Welsh surnames though. You could ask for a checking point eg....... only needed if the mother is Henrietta, ....if that was the case.

Hello I am about to apply for a cert from NW Records Office, as the GRO is taking such a while. Just wondered on the form, there is a section for day/month of birth - I don't know this, only the quarter, is it absolutely necessary or is this just there in case you know it, I have the ref. number from their index though. Thanks, still learning! Sarah
