Hi I am looking to order a marriage certificate from the Warrington register office, but ones i have ordered from the Cheshire registrar office have been hand written out by the the registrar was wondering if all local offices hand write them or do some give you copies of original like you get from GRO. Problem with this marriage is they are not on GRO books, tried many different spelling and no luck but is on Cheshire bmd website. Does any one know if it is common practise for local ones just to be hand written or do you need to request a copy? Thanks Karen |

Why don;t you ring them up and ask them? If you say it is for family history they might photocopy the original. Wakefield RO is brilliant, the photocopy the original for you. |

It depends on the office,it's always worth phoning them and asking if they handwrite a cert or if they copy the original register. Lincoln for instance photocopy as do Wakefield, but Berwick hanndwrite the certificate from the original entry. Genuki will give you a contact addy and phone number or the other way is to google the county and register office will come under the local council website. Glen |
