Please also see 'First Steps in Researching Irish History' where there is a mention of the coming 'online' of these important Irish Census. I hope this may also help. Janet |

If you know WHERE in Ireland its possible to order 1901 and 1911 Irish census film into any LDS Family History Centre, but even for a small village it could be at least 2 films. |

They are working on putting the censuses online, starting with Dublin 1901 (I think) which is due later this year. I think you can find various bits of the censuses online, so you might get lucky. For instance West Belfast 1911 at www.belfastfamilyhistory*com (replace asterisk with dot). GENUKI or just googling around will probably come up with other areas. Kate. |

Hi Kathleen, I'm not an expert on Irish records - just starting out on that side- so I'm sure there is someone with more info. What I can tell you is there is no online census. They only have the 1901 and 1911 intact (they released 1911 early because the earlier ones have been destroyed by fires over the years). These census' have to be viewed at the records offices in Ireland. I have seen on various boards people asking people in Ireland for look ups. There is another thread o9n here talking about various Irish research sites - worth reading. Good Luck. regards Angela |
