Tracing back further than the Census

Does anyone know how i get back further than 1851 census i currently have my tree back to 1788 and census does not show me any further back. how do i carry on reasearching further back in time

1841 census. familysearch.org (baptism,marriages and deaths pre 1837). records office for parish registers. Death certs and marriages certs of those rellies born pre 1837. BMD from 1837. Wills. Historical directories. familyhistoryonline for some Baptism,marriages and burials. National Burial Index. Suzanne

1841 for some counties...Pay to view.... www.britishorigins(.)com Also coming soon (all counties) on Ancestry, again a subscription site. Chris

I would also like to know how to get further back in time than the 1841 census, without having to visit far off places to see written records. Is it possible?

Hi Glenys Try the suggestions above, if you want actual recorded proof then local records offices will send photocopies of parish register entries. Suzanne
