Hi, wondered if it was possible to redefine the search results on 1837online as I have too many results come back for marriages, I just need to do a search on the district between a particular time Thanks, Bev |

I think you can't search on the district. You can only search on the relevant page(s) - ie ones with the surname you want - for each quarter. nell |

Crikey, that's a bit of a pain as I know the district in which they married, is there another website which will return on the district? You'd have thought that they would have redefined the searches on that website. Thanks again for the advice, progressed loads this weekend. Bev |

Depends on what year the marriage took place. If it's in the 1800's or very early 1900's then you can use the district to cut down the results on Ancestry's FreeBMD's. What name, year and district are you looking for? Kath. x |

Bev The 1837website just has the pages which are arranged alphabetically, with many different registration districts on each one. nell |

Thanks Kath, I think it would be Watten. Bless, I have found so much information as a lovely lady transcribed her family tree for me but she wasn't entirely sure who Maud married. I went onto the free BDM website, but, unfortunately, only Maud details were on the census image along with the list of our names, what am I doing wrong? Thanks again! X |

Not sure what you are doing Bev. I just went onto Ancestry search page and where it says 'browse records' on the right of the page, I clicked on 'Birth, Marriage and Death'. I then typed in Emily Taylor in the name box, and Banbury in the keywords box. A few results came back, but only one Emily Maud. I then clicked on 'view details' and then clicked on page number to see others on the same page. Hope you can understand all of that. Kath. x |

Thanks Kath, your method is alot better. I went the long winded way. Too be honest, I always feel so bad as I always have to ask for advice! I should try and go to bed now. Clocks going forward have put me out of synch though. Thanks again! x |
