Does anyone know if death certificates were issued for soldiers killed on active duty during WW1? I have a relative who is said (from family word of mouth) to have died on active service, but I can't find a death cert for him. |

Thank you so much Fred, I found him on the War Graves site. I would recommend this as a brilliant site, you don't need to order a certificate, just clik the button and you get one on screen. |

The death certificates for war dead from WW1 are indexed and searchable on 1837 online website. Under the heading 'Military Records' there is a link labelled 'War deaths WW1 WW2 Boer war' I have been able to locate an index entry for my great grandfather who died in france - and successfully obtain his death cert from the GRO.
