can anyone suggest why

The only other thing I can think of is that she was married previously, but that the husband was not the father of the child. So her child was registered with her current (married) surname, and her maiden name was given in the index, but she was no longer with her husband, which is why there is no father on the birth cert. nell |

Hi Nell, Yes the same he had 3 christian names, his full name with the other initials are there with the area. Correct quarter and year. Just wish I could remember his mothers christian name now. Jane |

You can send off for anyone's birth cert I think. More recent ones I think you need to know the actual date of birth. How curious. Are you sure the reference you found matches the right quarter and registration district for your ex? |

Hello, My x partner got his birth cert 25 years ago and it said he was illigitimate. I'm sure it had his mothers name on it useing the surname which his adopted parents said it would be. JUst checked on ancestry and it has that name but also maiden name which is different. So will this mean she was married (could she say she was without having proof). Have looked for a marriage between the two names but cant find nothing either side by 10 years. Do you think if I sent of for x partners birth cert just to double check what it did say on it that I would be allowed it as he is still alive. Jane |
