I'm sure she won't mind me sharing this but a cousin of mine (who I met on GR) has just found out that her maternal grandmother married 36 years after the birth of her first child and 18 years after the last one was born. Thought this might give everyone out there who has just about 'thrown in the towel' a bit of inspiration... Happy hunting! Aileenx |

I have come across people marrying in order to claim married couple's old age pension. Was it about 1912? As others said congratulations for your preservence. I think vicars must have been busy that year!! |

The details were found by another relative on FamilyRelatives! I thought I'd add this post as I recall a recent thread about marriage- the author was wondering how far she should look for a marriage after a the birth of a first child and people were sharing their own findings. I'm now wondering about some of my rellies and the marriages that I haven't found....yet! Aileenx |

You can't rush these things. Marriage is a big commitment. I wonder if one or other of them were married and couldn't get a divorce. They may have had to wait until the other partner died before they could get married. Well done for finding the marriage though. Toni |

Annie, It was a cousin's cousin who found the evidence. I don't think I would have had the patience-LOL! Actually the marriage was in 1914 and could well have been due to a pension claim however there is possibly another reason for such a lengthy wait. Aileenx |
