Hello i need to order a birth cert but not sure about change in the spelling of the surname. culley cully i know quite often there are changes in spelling from one census to another but surely the birth entry would be the right spelling, or is possible the e would have been added at a later date? Order the birth cert with the name which appears in the birth index, if you are ordering from the GRO. if you are ordering from a local register office, just give them both spellings. nell |

Might be worth seeing if you can include a '?' against the name, possibly adding 'sp' - the conventional abbreviation for 'spelling'. Christine |
