Does any one know which papers would have covered the MIDSUMMER NORTON area during 1921. I need to see if there was a report on an accident involving a train at a place called (looks like) RADSTOCK. Thanks JOAN

Joan I don't know whether this is of any help but I had a couple of deaths that had a coroners inquest into them in 1947 - there is a 75 year closure on the coroner's report but I emailed the local Library in the area and they very kindly had a look in the newspaper archives for me and sent me a copy of the inquest details that where reported by the paper at the time. So If you can find out roughly which area it's in I would try emailing the library. Regards Jane

thanks Susan I will try the western daily press as you suggest. Thanks Jane The local library sounds a possibility, didn't think they'd be prepared to check themselves, so will give it a go on Monday. Joan

The Bristol evening post would be able to help. My grandmother came from Midsummer Norton and we visited Radstock museum on Sunday and walked along the dissused railway line which is now a cycle track. The museum have an E.mail contact. A good site for Midsummer Norton families is Rootsweb Sommerset coalfield connections which lists everyone with parish records and census information. I will see if I can find any details of the rail crash. What did you want to know?
