It will be if he is in the end column recorded as the registrar! My rellie as one for over 40 years in an area where a lot of my family lived, but I have yet to get a cert with him on it! Merry

Hi Merry, This chap is Norfolk area, but Norfolk RO seem reluctant to answer the phone this week,i know they don't take platic as payment, and i get the feeling they would be 2006 handwriting anyhow. I'm not sure if i dare even order one,i think i need a serious chat with this man. Now where did i put Derek Acorahas' phone number........ Glen

LOL! Mine worked in the Bristol area. One day I phoned Barton Regis Office about a birth cert and whilst I was talking I said, ''I bet when I order this cert it will be another one that isn't signed by my rellie, Frederick Hunt''.....The registrar said ''Oh I see his name a lot....I will see if we have anything about him''. A few days later the cert arrived (sig of a different reg, as usual) and along with it was a photocopy of a newspaper cutting from the local paper dated 1932, with a photo of my rellie at his retirement presentation!!!! Local registrars can be helpful in lots of ways! Merry

That must have been quite a thing to receive, John is my man and his folks had 250+ acres of land and twelve servants back in the 1861. I now have a sub to ancestry, that Gresham/Chambers do turned out quite interesting by the way. The next street is called Gresham St,and that is where Martha turned up 10 years later. I can tie 90 years of the family movements through birth certs and census to three adjacent streets in Lincoln. Shame no-one else seems to be looking at the Norfolk mob,i have 6 sibs all having six to eight kids each and using about 6 christian names for everyone. All good clean fun.
