There are two more in first quarter of 1963. What age are we talking? And its definitely Scunthorpe through your own knowledge?

Dea Report 22 Mar 2006 10:47

The Scunthorpe one is aged 44 Scunthorpe 3b 381 - but there are several. This is 1962 Dec Q - I would expect her to be in next Q really, where there are also a couple. Can you give the age at death. Can you not ring them back when we have checked? Dea x

Probably her then - unless it was Eleanor also aged 44 who died in Birmingham Q1 1963 Dea

I was born 26 of Dec. and registered next day.

Forget Eleanor in Birmingham - I was looking too quickly for you and followed the line on a slant - she was much older. Have been back and checked now the panic is over - The Scunthorpe one seems the only one of that age. Dea x

Debbie would you expect there to be another family name to help match up the right death cert, somthing like Widow of or Wife of and give them any know names that may apear on the death cert they may have registered her death . It's all information that will help to get the right one. Wendy

Hi, Sometimes you have to take a gamble and send for a certificate to eliminate it from your enquiries but you can arrange for a reference check and that way you only lose part of the £7 if it is wrong by saying 'if she is not listed as the wife of Fred Bloggs, then don't send me the certiificate'. Of course this in itself is a gamble if you don't know the person very well because she could have remarried before she died! So although it looks wrong it is in fact correct! (if you see what I mean). The fact of the matter is EVERYONE, even the most careful researchers has wasted money on the wrong certificate. It's a fact of life and family history I'm afraid. Cheers, Horatia

Here are some instructions to help you find BMD entries on Ancestry. Go to this website: http://www(.)ancestry(.)co(.)uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx REMOVE BRACKETS from web address. Assuming that you have found the Ancestry page OK with the 1837 - 1983 BMD Indexes (BETA) on it. Choose Birth Death or Marriage Put in the person's name and likely year of birth, death or marriage. The results show the four quarters and the surname at the beginning of the page and surname at the end of the page, so from this you can estimate if your person's surname is likely to appear on this page. If so, you just click on the image viewing page which has a little blue magnifying glass on a sheet of text icon (at the end of each result). You will then be taken to the page and you will see surnames in alphabetical order. Look for your person. There are plenty of navigation tools to take you forward or back if you are just a page out. Back and Forward Arrows plus magnification. You can also save the image to your PC if you wish to do so. At the very top of the image viewing screen, you will see something like this: You are here: Search England & Wales, Birth Index: 1837-1983 (Beta) 1952 Jan-Feb-Mar K You can click into the part that says Jan-Feb-March (on the screen in question) and search through the whole of the K's for January February March if your page seems to be missing. Hope this helps. Cheers, Horatia PS Now people can search for themselves for free it is a great bonus!
