When entering the place of birth/marriage/death should you enter the place of birth etc. where the person was living or what it says on the certificate. For example, when I was born my parents were living in East Dulwich but on my birth cert the registration district is Camberwell. I have entered the places according to the districts on the certificates but have often wondered if this is correct. Probably not, so I would like to ask the advice of those on here. Which place do you enter the certificate registration/subregistration district or the actual area where the parents/individual was living?? Many thanks, Louise |

I would enter the place where the event actually happened, ie. that given in the first coumn on a birth cert. I think I could count on one hand the number of times I've actually visited the town named as the Registration district on mine. |

If I have the address where the birth or marriage took place, I put that in, otherwise the name of the village or town, but if I only have the name of the district because I haven't bought the certificate and don't have any other details I will put for example 'Haslingden district'. Kate. |

Many thanks for replying so quickly. I wasn't sure and have been meaning to ask for ages. I think I now have quite a bit of editing to do!! Cheers, Louise |

Louise - if I were you I would leave the editing till later, because there seems to be some problem with updating trees on GR at the moment. There is an error message 'Sorry but there was a problem connecting to the Genes Reunited site' that keeps appearing when you try to update your tree. A few people have said this is happening to them today. I have sent GR a message about it but not had a reply yet. Kate |

Hi Kate, Sorry I took a while to reply but I've been messing about with my PAF. Thanks for letting me know about that. I was going to add some other information as well so I'm glad I didn't waste my time. Cheers, Louise |
