Lapsed membership?

Could someone tell me please what happens to a persons 'family tree' on this site if they decide to let their subscription lapse? Does it mean that any data/tree that they have saved is automatically deleted? Would it mean that any messages sent to them would not be received? The reason why I ask is that there have been one or two messages which I have sent to people with whom I have ancestors in common but who have never replied. I've assumed that they are simply lapsed members and have not received my messages but is that actually the case? many thanks Rob

Paid membership could lapse, but email notification of a message would still occur. i.e. If a member has changed or no longer uses the email address they registered on GR with, then they would not receive notification of a message.

Sammy, thanks for your info. I guess the person i'm trying to contact may not be here anymore and,as you suggest, perhaps subscribed with a now redundant email address. Then again, perhaps they are receiving the notifications emails but don't feel its worth the cost of re-subscribing in order to see my details to contact me? Rob

No Rob, the only problem a non subscriber would have is that they can not initiate contact. If you contact them they can reply.

Alan, i guess the majority of folk reading this will have experienced those same 'problems' at some stage or another.Thankfully the majority of folk who i have contacted do send friendly helpful replies. Rob
