This excellent website will tell you all about what is on certs and what it means: http://home.clara.net/dixons/Certificates/indexbd.htm As far as I know death certs have had the same information since they started in 1837. The only change is the addition of the birth date and place on death certs after 1969. nell

I received a death certificate from Feb 1944 yesterday, but was disappointed to see it did not have the person's date of birth on it - which I was hoping for! Neither did it state his place of birth or country (Ireland or England possibly?). Though it did give his age in years. The name of the informant and their address and relationship to the deceased is usually useful. Claire

This is why I was overjoyed and sad at the same time for registering the death of my dear sister. In 100 years time, we will be there in black n white as Sisters! but with different surnames :-)) Females are always harder to find. Sorry! I digress.....just thought I'd throw that in...sorry.
