I have a branch of my family that emmigrated to Sydney, Australia ( like most families have ). I would like to find out when they sailed there. I have it narrowed down to 37 years (lol). Somewhere between 1901 and 1938. Does anyone know if there is a way I can find out. I have searched so many sites now and do know what to do next. Can anyone please help? Thankyou Jayne |

Have you already looked at the online NSW BMD indexes for entries relating to them? www.bdm.nsw.gov.au Kate. |

Hi Kate Yes I have been on that site this morning. It is a great site, on the deaths section it gives the name of that persons parents,( fantastic ) Going on that site helped me to narrow it to down. The earliest death I found was 1938. Thanks Jayne |

If you purchase one of the death certificates that you've found, this should include info on ''Length of residence in Australia'', which will give you some idea of the year that they emigrated. Will help to narrow it down a bit! The NSW death certs are really good - they have much more info than the UK ones, and cost about the same - well worth the money! Richard |

Hi, I have't actually tried to find the dates of arrival in Aust for my family as I could just ask my Dad when he came out here but I did try to find out one day if it could be done. From what I found out you have to search the records in person, there were no on-line records. There may have been indexes though: try www.naa.gov.au or www.nswrecords.gov.au. Think you need the first one. To get a copy of the document will cost though. Toni |
