I'm looking for an Anne Meggitt. It may be possible that she is an ANN, ANNE, or ANNIE and would have been born around 1900 (I think possibly later than 1900 as my nan and her siblings were born in the 1920's) I am having real difficulty finding any information about her although I do know she married a MALCOLM ORR (any info on him too would be great - I belive he was born in County Mayo, Ireland) They had at least 5 children: MALCOLM FRANCES JOAN (b. 18/09/1927 - my nan) MONICA JEAN Any info about the MEGGITT's or ORR's would be appreciated. ~Kimberley~

Do you know who her parents were?

Unfortunatly not. Researching my tree is something I wish I'd done ages ago when I had the chance to ask my nan!

You need to get your nan's birth cert~ if not got already. Then try and find a marriage for the parents! Was your nan born England or Ireland? Zoe

Tracy's work made it easier to find this - the local version of the record on the Yorkshire BMD site: Yorkshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1914 Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference ORR Malcolm H MEGGITT Annie Sculcoates Register Offices Hull SRO/87/30

Ahh Christine. I forgot about YorkshireBMD. It holds all the birth records for Hull as well, so you'll be able to find all your nans siblings on it. Yorkshire Birth indexes for the years: 1920 ORR Monica East Sculcoates Hull EAS/90/337 (This one isn't yours.... Orr Monica **Stamford** Sculcoates.9d 496 Birth 2 1920.... I can't find another Monica. Are you sure about that one?)

If you look at the births on the Yorks BMD site, say between 1914-1930 and just put in ORR as a surname there are a whole lot - some of which are the ones you know about - some of the rest may also be yours. Christine ( I was putting this message in as you put your extra one, Tracy!) PS hope you're impressed that I haven't copied all the results in - I know it's more fun to find them for yourself if you can!

Thank you Tracy, Zoe and Christine... going to have a look into what you found. The Annie Meggitt and Malcolm Orr (Junior) look like certain leads. I know Malcolm Junior and Frances did join the Army but I'm not sure about them taking part in WW2. The date of Annie's birth in 1893 also looks about right.... although this is older than I thought she would be. Not sure about Norah.... maybe she's an Orr we didn't know about!! Definatly going to be buying some birth/marriage certificates come pay day! Thank you so much!
