After a pc crash I lost my book marked sites. I have just been on, what I thought was, the gro site to order a birth cert. After filling in my details it then asked for the childs bith date, mothers name and maiden name. If I knew these I would'nt need the childs birth cert. I have ordered birth certs before, and don't remember being asked this. Is my baby fuddled brain on the right site?

I know that on the form there are a lot of boxes that you don't have to fill in - they normally only take the first and last name, plus the usual details of quarter, year, vol and page numbers. Here's the web page you need - maybe you were on a different site? http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ Hope that helps

You don't need to give this extra information. The only required information is the surname and first name, year, registration district, page number and volume number. Cheers, Horatia PS Here is the website I use to order certs: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ Go to the link on the right hand side to order certs online
