My g/ granda died in 1929 and within a few months another man was sitting in his chair and my grandma was pregnant, my Dad was not happy, but regardless it happened, in 9 months time a baby appeared, but search as I did I could not find a marriage, this saddened me, but such is life, I have spent this week trawling though the marriages on Ancestry looking for my Fathers family, and low and behold 24 years after babe was born my Grandma married her 'new' man-I cannot explain how happy this has made me, I will send for the marriage certificate, not for information but just to have the pleasure of seeing the confirmation-

Jennifer Isn't it so satisfiying to put that last piece of the jigsaw in the right place? It makes the search seem so worth while, well done. Jane

I cannot explain just how happy I feel I have e-mailed all my relatives and not one reply - obviously I am the only Family Tree addict around, but yes, so satisfying - and it made me feel she died honourable.

Jennifer Do you think the man could have been married before? I know of some couples living together for years and having children together but having to wait for a previous spouse to die before thay could marry. Divorce wasn't so common then. Heather

Drat, been called into work, but there is no record of him being married before as far as I know, but that is something I will check out after work (which could be 9.30 p.m.) ugh! but definitely food for thought.
