Must admit it has left me feeling a bit tearful, didnt expect that reaction, does it hit others like this. The cert is for my fathers brother who we never knew existed, he died when he was 21 months old in 1918. It says death 1. Influenza. 2. Convulsions, it has next to it, 2 days and 11 hours, does this mean how long the little boy was ill for before he died? I just wonder if this is the child my late father thought he may have caused his death, apparently he was carrying the baby and the baby hit his head on a doorframe and the baby died a few days later. Word had it it was supposed to be a sister, but I havent found a sister. My dad was 8 at the time this baby died. |

I've not had a death certificate yet, my cousin has just ordered 3 today, but when I got my first marriage certificate of my great, great grandma I cried when I saw it! Nobody in our family ever knew our gt, gt grandad's father's name, so when I saw it I was overcome, isn't it strange how we are affected by people we just didn't know? Deb |

Thanks Maureen I'm waiting for my first death cert, should have been dispatched 3rd March, so hope it will be soon. Think I will probably be emotional when it comes, is for my Gt Grandmother, who abandoned my Nan in the workhouse soon after she was born. My poor Nan was never allowed to ask her family about her Mum, so now, 86 years later, she may be able to have some peace of mind. Sharon |
