Richard the only reason I asked for the unusual middle name was because if it is passed onto other generations they would be easier to find in the records. I suggest you trawl through the Beta records on Ancestry they are free at the moment. Georgina.

Hi, Thanks for the replies. I don't want to post my g/f's middle name as it isn't really relevant to his parents marriage and after reading a few scare stories of people robbing information I am a bit wary. I have got my g/f's birth certificate which gives his Father's details as James Walsh - Occupation: Plasterer and Mother's name as Margaret Walsh formerly Hanson. Given that they were living in the Tynemouth area there is a possibility they could have 'popped over the border' and got married in Scotland. The Children listed by Georgina could well be relations as the names Thomas and Winifred appear in my tree earlier. Does any of this extra info help?

Silly question, have you got the birth cert for your g/f. You would then get the correct name at the time of birth and find out other information from what the cert can tell you. Any chance the couple married 'over the border?' Glen

It is on John Walsh's birth certificate in June 1920 as Margaret Walsh formerly Hanson. So I am assuming they were already married by June 1920

Help please!! I'm trying to find a marriage between my great grandparents James Walsh and Margaret Hanson. My Grandad John Walsh was born in June 1920 in Tynemouth and I have James Walsh on the 1901 Census in Tynemouth age 21 and he is single. I definately have the correct James Walsh on the Census as my grandfather John Walsh had a strange middle name which was my great great grandmothers maiden name. I am struggling to find a James Walsh marrying a Margaret Hanson at any point between 1901 and 1930. Can anybody help??
