I think that could be it. I did marriages but didn't go back that far. I had started my research with the information that James Marr died before 1922 and the one most likely was the one who died in the Liverpool Workhouse aged 27 in 1907. So I worked back from that. If this was the same James he would 15 when he married! Is that possible? I don't know if they came from Liverpool which is why the census was so important. Catherine |

Have you tried going for the marriage cert.....then trying to find them before the marriage......then coming forward again......with the knowledge of their ages and place of birth?? I have just done a lookup for someone where the family were written on the census sheet as the correct surname, but had been transcribed as the same surname as the people in the household beofre them on the census page! Marriages Jun 1895 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >>>Burns Eliza Liverpool 8b 90 Davies Alice Liverpool 8b 90 Garrety Daniel Liverpool 8b 90 >>>Marr James Liverpool 8b 90 Merry |

I need some fresh eyes on my research which has come to a halt. Hope someone can help. My Grandmother was a born on 17th April 1901 at 5 house 10 Court Beau Street Liverpool which was the Saint Martin District at the time. It's also West Derby/Everton area. I am looking for the parents Elizabeth (Nee Burns) and James Marr. James was a Salt Hawker. I can't even find a likely couple on the census. Now, I would have expected them to be living there or near at the time of the 1901 census. However, I can't find Beau Street on the census. I have even trawled the browse section through all the districts in ancestry.com. Upper beau Street is there but not Beau street which was opposite. Would Liverpool Records Office have more details on the census or does anyone else have any ideas I can pursue? With many thanks, Catherine Mullen |
