If its before 1901, you could look at the next census following the marriage, For example, if they got married in 1879, look at the 1881 Census. Then search for the man then view other residents at his address and see what his wife's first name is! This is one method I have used and it did actually work. If its after 1901 you can't look at any more Censuses as there is a 100 year rule for release of the information so I don't know what to suggest in that case. Hope this helps. |

I have them married with children on 1881 census, but can't find a marriage for them. the one i found for about the right year had two ladies one man but neither with the right name? Thomas Culley born 1845 Hampstead Berkshire his wife Jane Culley born 1843 Hendley Hampshire. their first child was born 1866 and the last 1875 if any one can help thanks Nicky |

I don't think the one i foud is the right one as the two ladies were Elizabeth Dyke and Eleanor Vincent Aylsham is the district and 4b 239 vol etc thanks Nicky.x |

You should try to find them on the 1871 census to see if the wife is called Jane then too, because it could be that Jane was his second wife, and she might not be the mother of all the children. Kate. |

Aylesham district you quote is Norfolk. From freebmd there is this Thomas Culley Alice J Brooks (Alice Jane?) William Grey Hungerford 2c 544 Dec 1866 Nothing to a Jane otherwise up to 1875 |
