Help needed please. Yesterday I downloaded AVG 7 Anti Virus which I saved on comp. later tried to install and got message saying AVG exe is not valid for Windows 32 application. Contacted Grisoft in UK e mailed back this afternoon saying I had probably downloaded a corrupt file. Was given code to download different one which turns out to be the one I have already downloaded. Could some kind, technically minded person who knows What they're doing..........please assist me with this? Where do I go from here........ Lin xx |

The first file you downloaded may have been corrupted, the second may be okay, it well be the same file. Try installing the new file over the old one, it won't hurt anything and may solve the problem. Ron www.genealogyprinters(.)com |

I will try that Ron Thankyou so much. If I down load the new one over the old one Ron, does that mean I will not need to remove the old one? And if you have the time Ron could you briefly explain what is a corrupt file? Could it cause damage to my comp? Thanks again Lin xx |

Lyn, Im not very technical but corrupt just means not working properly. Just download again and it will probably say something like 'do you want to replace current avg7' and just click yes. |

Heather thanks, appreciated but, when you say download again, do you mean from my computer or from grisoft themselves? Lin xx |

A corrupt file means that a bit of the coding in the file is not quite right, what Heather says is correct, download the file againfrom AVG, say yes to any over writing and reinstall it again, saying yes to any over writing. Carol www.genealogyprinters(.)com |

Do make sure you have scheduled avg7 to update itself automatically from the internet every day/when you switch on. Also to scan the puter every day. Have you got a firewall aswell - I use zonealarm - its free aswell, just google for it. |

Hi Heather, That would appear to be what is happening, I have just come on to the boards and AVG popped up and scanned for me, I am going to download zone alarm later today, as we have just downloaded AVG for my DIL's puter. Thanks very much. Lin xx |
