hi Julie, If the birth took place in England or Wales on Ancestry or 1837, if she was not married at the time it will be under her maiden surname. Do you have a date of birth? Sheila

Hi Forgot to add also try www.lookupuk(.)com for contact addresses and info regarding Scottish adoptions, their laws are slightly different than ours, for instance you can trace your birth family from 16 in Scotland, but you need to establish where the adoption took place. Have you had a look for the birth entry yet? Sheila

Hi Julie, You could try www.scotsconnected(.)com this is a site for Scottish adoptees and there birth families run by Margaret Drummond. Try finding out a bit more from his BM especially about which organisation the adoption went through. Good Luck! Sheila

His name at the time will not tell you his adopted name. Is this person connected to you? You may find this information helpful: www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/adoptions/
