have any one of you been doing a search for some one on here, just randomly and come accross one of your relies you have or havent been searching for, on the cencus or simular

If only! No, although sometimes when looking at another problem, I've thought 'Maybe that's what happened to my gt gt grandfather' or 'I haven't looked there for that either'. Quite often a surname leaps out on a census and then I realise its a) the wrong first name b) the wrong age c) the wrong birthplace d) the wrong occupation e) the wrong address - in short its not my relative at all! nell

Nearest I have got to that was finding one of my distant rellies on the same census page as someone's rellies from this board........Her rellies were ''Ladies of the Night''.......My rellie died of Syphilis.....so we wondered if they had been in rather close contact!!! Merry

i got told one of my rellies were 'a lady of the night' dunt no if thats true but i carnt find the rellie anywhere nobody seen her for over 50yrs

I was looking up something in Norfolk for someone on the board recently - I dont know why but I was paricularly attracted to the surname they were looking for. Well, I couldnt believe it but when I was going through the Norfolk transcripts, low and behold someone with her very unusual surname was shown in the marriages marrying one of my lot. How weird is that?

Yes I have. I was looking though the Trade Directories in Wakefield Library doing a look up for a certain Sue Smith. Didn't find anything for her, but found my great x 3 grandad, George Tate, Innkeeper in 1832!! Will be eternally grateful! Maggy

I found the death of my grandmother on one page of the GRO index and lo and behold on the same page I spotted the death of her brother-in-law. So far as I know there was never any contact between them for years, yet they died several miles apart in the same quarter!
