Well, on the one census I found them on, (1891) she said she was born in St Pancras in about 1856. I was using this criteria when looking for her in 1881 (when we know she was alive and what her name was) and in 1901 - no luck with either!! I wonder if the family were out of the country for any of the censues? Am going to see if I can see anything else for Pauline or her dad. UPDATE - No joy whatsoever! Merry |

Hi Merry We do not think that Pauline was Italian.apparently she was in Italy In La Scarla Opera House on the stage.we think that maybe she was French?? her father was listed as an Adrian Le Roy a gentlemanon the marriage cert 1879 I dont think Adrin was very popular either then Bill |

I looked for Pauline Le Roy before her marriage. Nothing!! Either she was making her name sound a bit more ''interesting'' or she has been badly mistranscribed on the census. Couldn't find your rellies in 1881 either (after their marriage) Who was pauline's father (and Occ) from her marriage cert? Merry |

Geraldo was born in 1880: Births Jun 1880 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CROCI Geraldo Alfonso P Holborn 1b 713 I did wonder if this was another child of the family (below), because of the middle name. However, Pauline wasn't common in this country at that date, but I don't know if it was a popular name in Italy and therefore might easily pop up in a family other than yours? Births Jun 1893 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Croci Angelina Paulina Holborn 1b 702 I can't yet find them in 1901. Merry |

This looks like your family in 1891: Anglo Croci abt 1890 London, England Son Saffron Hill London Antoni Croci abt 1885 London, England Son Saffron Hill London Gearldge Croci abt 1880 London, England Son Saffron Hill London Josephi Croci abt 1848 Cremona, Italy Head Saffron Hill London Pauline Croci abt 1856 St Pancras, London, England Wife Saffron Hill London Though Geraldo is shown as aged 11 and a scholar, which suggests he wasn't born in 1889. Joseph was a marble cutter. Merry |

Yes,- all you need is the child's name (ie the birth reg name) and the year, quarter, Volume and page number, plus the district name (all called the GRO reference). http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/index.asp#0 You will need a debit or credit card to order online at the above address.
