Hi Joan, I don't know either but I wouldn't mind a small cyber bet, if it is ready, that it will be on just before the SOG fair in London at the end of April, just like 1861 was added last year. Best wishes Amanda |

You can buy 1841 census Cds and lots of other genealogical goodies at the Archive CDBooks website: http://www.archivecdbooks.org I've bought lots of Cds from them and they are reliable and reputable. It's bit of a pain having to look at every page, as it's not indexed, but, as others have mentioned on earlier threads, you often find other family members, see relationships between neighbors, and get a feel for the place your ancestors were living in. If you sign up for the Archive Cdbooks newsletter, you get advance notice of special sales that they run, sometimes it's 50 % off for just a few days, unadvertised. |

Ancestry are rumoured to be bringing it on line by Easter. Dont know if that is the case, but they have been off line a lot lately 'updating'! woo hoo |

Sam - when I search the Nottinghamshire 1841 census (on microfiche) down at the record office, even though the local Family History Society have produced a complete name index, it still drives me crazy trying to find anybody on it! The reference numbers aren't unique like they are on the later censuses. And the layout is not nearly so clear as the later ones. Still, roll on ancestry! Kate. |

Hi Joan, i would definately wait for Ancestry. I have some 1841 census CD's, they were quite expensive, have no index and are very difficult to read. Due to having no index, it takes forever to find anyone and I only ever look through them if I absolutely HAVE to! Sam x |

The Genealogist only has some counties; and I don't believe that they're all complete, either. I've heard rumours that Ancestry are adding the '41 in either March or June/July. I suspect that no-one coming up with this stuff genuinely knows! |

Don't know. Some of 1841 is on British origins website. For CDs, try googling. You might be lucky and find a transcription of the area(s) you want by googling too. nell |
