1891 census ref RG12/100/63/52 24 Park St, Dorset Square, Marylebone Ecc. Parish St Cyprian It looks as though Albert's occ has been crossed out and input on the next line - which is for his wife. It reads (Corn) Carman which I take to mean a carrier of corn, possibly. Cheers Vera |

I really was hoping that you wouldn´t ask for occupations !!! Albert - some sort of annotation was made which has been crossed through and is entirely illegible. Margaret - in occupation it looks something like (Coin) carman !!!! Address Park Street, Marylebone Perhaps someone else might like to have a look at it RG12/100 Registration district: Marylebone Sub registration district: Christchurch ED, institution, or vessel: 10 Folio: 63 Page: 52 ( |

On the 1891 census the following family are living at 24 Park Street, Marylebone East, Marylebone, London: Stanbridge, Albert, head, married, age 48, corn carman, born Marylebone, Middlesex, England Stanbridge, Albt H, son, age 2, born Reading, Berkshire, England Stanbridge, Margaret, wife, age 27, born Eaton, Bedfordshire, England Stanbridge, Sidney A, son, age 3 months, born Marylebone, Middlesex, England My great grandfather was a carman, and a great uncle told me that a Carman was licensed to sell good, (like a travelling salesman) - 'Grandfather used to travel the countryside in horse and cart and blow the bugle for the people to come out and buy from him.' Hope this helps, Cheers Ann Dawson |
