It also is just a nickname for sister. My husband had an Aunt Cissie, who actually was Elizabeth. We only found that out when I started doing the family history. Her daughter was also called Cissie - they were known as Big Cissie and Little Cissie! Sue xx

Or Frances even. Otherwise a diminutive of Cecilia, Cecily, or Cicely, 'blind one.' Variants include Cissy and Sissy.
