Hi Dr Doolittle Paul, You could try with http://portal.archives(.)tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?search=11 from Archives Office of Tamania. My great great great grandfather was a convict and he was in this convict index. Here is the Archives Office of Tamania website, http://www.archives.tas(.)gov.au/ Click on 'Name Indexes' and you will see some indexes of wills, census, etc. Cheers, Steven from Melbourne, Australia.

Paul, this site is great for convict records. It has a list of Tassie convicts as well as a seperate list for convict permission to marry. Gives the ship and dates of departure and arrival. http://www.archives.tas.gov.au/nameindexes Rebs x

OK, i've found the list of all William Savage's who were taken to Tasmania, and there is 10 of them. I know one of them isn't the correct one, as it's too early. But how do I find out what the crime was, as I know it was Poaching? Thanks, Paul.

Helllo, Where did William's trial take place and when? Do you know? Cheers, Horatia

I suggest you contact Norfolk Record Office and ask for a search of their Quarter Sessions Index. That's how I found my Australian Convict from Norfolk! I actually went to Norfolk Record Office and looked myself. I suspect you are in Australia - is that the case? I will be going to Norfolk this month so MAY be able to look for you; but I would need FULL details of what you know before I look. Cheers, Horatia

Paul, You have two MARVELLOUS resources in Norfolk. The Norfolk Records Office and the Millennium Library both in Norwich. I wish I had those facilities on my doorstep. I live in Essex and travel to these places. They are both great - suggest you have a look - you don't know what you are missing! Cheers, Horatia (with thousands of Norfolk ancestors)
