hi everyone, i just got a death cert yesterday. My grandad had a brother who died young. I found his birth in bmd 1913. The only match i could find in the deaths was in 1941. All the family believed that he wasn't married, but on the death cert it says informant was his widow, E Storer, the funny thing is, his mother was E storer and i am wondering if they made a mistake. The address is familar, Dad says that the family did live in that road at some stage what do you think?? has any one come across this or do i just have the wrong cert, its not a very common name thanks yvette |

It is possible it was a mistake. I would imagine if his mother was the informant, she would be upset at the time, and maybe didn't notice the mistake when she signed it, and afterwards I don't think you can change what is written. Have you looked for a marriage for him? Kath. x |

Does the age match the fact that he was born in 1913? I think I would check for a possible marriage, if you haven't done so already Sam |

I agree with Sam, you should look for a marriage....maybe you could also check the electoral roll for his address? Hubby has a death cert where the informant is the husband of the dec'd, but the relationship says father...... It can't beher father, because, obviously he had a different surname (and I think he was dead anyway!!) and it is definitely the right persons death cert....... Merry |

hi everyone again, back from searching bmd. the death was 1941 so i went back to 1913 so he would be around 18, i found 3 henrys, checked them out, none married anyone with a name beginning with an E and 2 were up north anyway, so, i think it would be a good idea to check the electoral roll can you tell me how to go about this thanks yvette |

There are errors made. When my partners mother died his dad registered the death and gave the wrong maiden name for her. He was so upset that he couldnt understand what I meant when I pointed it out. Ellen X |

Yvette does it say E Storer - wife? or does it say E Storer - widow? If its the latter I'd go with it being his mother and that teh registrar was simply recording that her husband had died if it's the former I'm stumped too Z |

thanks ellen, i can understand how it is possible to give the wrong info when in a state of shock and grief, so it makes me realise that the cert i have has a possible mistake on if other people have to. yvette |
