Hello I am trying to work this out and am getting a little confused!!! I have just recieved my first ever marriage cert that i ordered!!! Yippeee!!! ha On it my Greatgrandfather James Thompson b1894 Birkenhead fathers Hugh Thompson a General labourer, i have found them on the 1901 census and it appears that its just the 2 of them (also if anyone looks at this can they tell me what they think his employment was it says seaman and i cant read the rest) i think that his wife must have died. i have checked on free BMD and have found a marriage of a Hugh Thompson, it looks like he possibly married a Jemima Sinclair, i cant find any death for her as the only one for a Jemima Thompson is a lady aged 60 and think this would be too old for her. i'm just a little bit stuck with this, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated... Thank You...

Yes, I agree with Ozi....you should get the birth cert, just to confirm (or give you a surprise....whichever!!).....Researching commonplace names in a city can be expensive as you seem to need certs for everything........ Luckily that birth ref for the son was the only sensible one, given his age in 1901. Merry
