I saw two death entries for a rellies name, both in the same quarter of the same year and the same age, i sent for one and it was the wrong one as usual, i was all set to send for the other one, but noticed that there was written on the side of the cert,: This death is re-registered here on the authority og the registrar general see previous entry No 353, signature. this has got to be the other one i was going to send for hasn't it, I just cannot afford any more wrong certs,....MOE!

Elly, i think thats where i got it from, they both have different vol and page numbers so i thought maybe there were two of them, also the cert i got was a death in a workhouse and registered by the master, so maybe a family member registered it at the same time....Just wanted a second opinion before i push it to one side with my mountain of others....MOE!

Thats a sickener. Youd think theyd send them out on a sale or return basis wouldnt you. I mean it would save having to fanny about photocopying them if anyone else applied for them. I hate getting the wrong ones.

Didn't I see somewhere there is going to be an on-line service so we can download ourselves? Should be cheaper & faster - could have dreampt it I suppose! Elly

thanks for your feedback, out of 4 certs 2 weren't mine, so back to the search and raiding the piggybank, i have spent more money on certs a week than my ancestors earned in a year....Oh well......MOE!

I presume you got the cert from the GRO? Can you Email, asking them to confirm if it is an identical cert?offering them details from the one you have? certificate.servicesatons.gov.uk putting GQ in as subject . but with spaces either side...........and nothing else. changing 'at' for the sign, Bob
