Its SOOOOOO slow looking for these births I'm afraid I'm going to have to stop for the night. It might be worth double-checking all the birth registrations for Ann on 1837 in case its one that's missing from FreeBMD. But birth registrations weren't compulsory till 1865 (?) so they might not have bothered. In which case you might have to go by Samuel's (assuming the parents match) you'll get her maiden name that way. If Samuel's parents aren't John & Elizabeth then you 'll have to try to find one of the others to compare. Glad its not just mine that are right pains in the **** sometimes... my family mentioned above, the poor father buried TWO out of 3 wives & I cannot find any trace of any marriage other than his first - 1835 - so I don't know his fathers name gggrrrrrrrrrrr

Well, I'm drawing a blank for Ann other than Market Drayton, which doesn't quite feel right. For a start, I'd go for another child

haven't deserted you, I'm looking for a few births & its being a bit slow According to the IGI, John & Elizabeth look OK for these - same parents, same church. Youngest probably not mentioned as there are not that many records on the IGI after 1840/1850. When & where was the birth you sent off for? (Found one Market Drayton)

I don't know if John used any other names..as I can only find him with the family on 1 or 2 censuses.. They did baptise 2 children at the same time Samuel was 7 and Ann Maria was about 3. Richard was baptised a year after birth and John Thomas was not baptised at all.. AAArrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhh

I have a birth registered 1837 but the baby wasn't baptised till 1843. His mother died in 1840. The parents details for his baptism show his father's new wife (hope thats not too confusing) Any information is only as good as the person giving it, and even then mistakes could happen... fairly common one for the vicar not to take a careful name of the names at the time, then put the incorrect details in the parish register. Another problem - Same family - father's first marriage in 1835 has been incorrectly transcribed on the IGI. (Its not a member submitted entry) The parish register clearly shows the correct name. Have you checked the original? Is it possible that John had another name that he sometimes used? Have you found the family on both the 1851 & 1861 census - do the details match?

Hi there My great great grandma Ann Maria Reeves b1857 to a John and Elizabeth Reeves(so the census and IGI(not submitted info)say). I have one problem looked for a birth cert found the only one it could be put a checking point of fathers name, incorrect fathers name for the cert...I have never been able to find a marriage for this couple as I do not know the mothers maiden name. The worst thing is the birth cert I order matched with the d.o.b on the IGI..Is it possible John wasn't the father but had them baptised and said they were his.. Grabbing at straws now!!LOL Now I am tempted to order the cert again and see if it has the same birthdate and a mother called Elizabeth..wonder who the father is...I know they had other children..but only 3 were baptised when they had 4!! just getting confused positive I had the right cert but obviously something has happened I am sooo confused anyone have any ideas? Zoe xx
