This is the best map yet for clarity of London Streets in Victorian Times. I was amazed to find my Ancestors street in Shoreditch........Great for Lightermen on the Thames................... It is not street indexed so you need to find approx area on grid before you start................ http://users.bathspa.ac.uk/greenwood/lwhatsnew.html ---------- If you go to History and click on 'explore the map ' it shows you how to use the 1827 map in conjunction with todays 'Multimap' for example.

Update. If you can't find a street on Booths map then you might find it on this one and ofcourse vice versa There was huge increase in industrial building between 1827, this map, and Booth's survey in1898-9. The two particular streets I was interested in, in Shoreditch, no longer exist on Booths map. They also print out very well, even the smaller streets show up quite well Happy hunting Kat

Another good site for london maps is http://www.motco(.)com/map/ This site give you 10 various london maps ranging from 1862 backwards. Click on the map you want... On the left hand menu you will see place/street index. Might take a while to load. Of course not every street is named, but have found most of mine. Doesn't help when streets changed their names LOL

Thanks, Shelli, What you can't find on one you can perhaps find on another. What I particularly like on this one is you can find all the stairs and wharfs on the Thames, great if you have Thames water or lightermen. Kat
