can anyone please tell me how to link a brother and sister who married a brother and sister? I'm worried that if I enter them on my tree they will look like a completely different branch when they are inter related. Am I missing something? |

Hi Rachel Unfortunately on here you cant link them up. You have to add them twice. I 've got a couple like that and usually add a note referring to the other part of the tree they on. Jacqui |

If you use another Family history program, you can do it on there and then import your tree to this site. i've got a couple like that and it works ok if you do it that way. Sam x |

Yup, Derek, fraid it does! The GR tree was designed by someone with a degree in space engineering - NOT a genealogist! Olde Crone |

Also glad you asked the question as I now know what to expect when I try to put my tree back onto GR. That is if I ever figure out how to put them on FTM first. Maureen |

I have a similar but more difficult problem 2 brothers married 2 sisters, at different times. The second couples wedding was a joint marriage with the groom's mother and the bride's father. This is in Sept 1/4 1935. David |

Just wait until father and son marry sisters, so that one sister is the other's mother-in-law Peter |

Are Genes reunited aware of this flaw? If not, is it worth us all mailing them and asking them to find away around this? |

I have found this to be terribly frustrating too. It's not just a question of siblings marrying siblings - but also when you get later generations marrying back into the same family (if you follow my drift). I raised it with GR and got a fairly inconsequential reply such as 'yes, we know about it, and we might do something about it one day'. If more people complain, it might make that day a bit sooner! It's a shame nobody seems to have found a way around it apart from using a different program. It's causing me real problems - but them perhaps we're all too inbred to work out a 'fix'....! |
