To make sure you have the right one you could order one of the children´s birth certificates - would give mother´s maiden name - here´s a couple of the childrens birth registratons Skinner, Mary Ellen Record Type: Births Quarter: December Year: 1871 District: Birkenhead County: Cheshire Merseyside Volume: 8a Page: 488 Skinner, Richard Record Type: Births Quarter: March Year: 1873 District: Birkenhead County: Cheshire Merseyside Volume: 8a Page: 500 |

If you definitely know that Richard´s middle name was Crockwell then I would order the marriage certificate from March1868 - this will give the names of both fathers and their occupations. With Crockwell being an unusual middle name then it should be the right one. However, if you are not sure of that fact then I would order one of the children´s birth certificates - which will give you the names of both parents. The reason I say this is that the marriage was registered in 1868 and yet I see from one of the census returns that there is a child Thomas b c1867 - so I am not certain that the 1868 marriage is yours. ------------------- This is from the 1871 census - Ellen Skinner abt 1845 Poulton cum Seacombe, Cheshire, England Wife Birkenhead Cheshire Rachel Skinner abt 1870 Poulton cum Seacombe, Cheshire, England Daughter Birkenhead Cheshire Richd C Skinner abt 1835 Millbrook, Cornwall, England Head Birkenhead Cheshire Thomas Skinner abt 1867 Poulton cum Seacombe, Cheshire, England Son Birkenhead Cheshire - Richard´s second name does appear to start with a ´C´ but as you can see Thomas´s birth is still c 1867 - quite possibly born before they were married. |
